Festival Park Structures

The Festival Park Structures are a series of modular, flexible buildings that can be configured in a variety of ways to serve different purposes in support of festivals and special events. I designed these structures for use in the area typically activated for festivals and events at Conner Prairie. I served as the concept designer and 3D modeler of these structures. To date, they have never been built.

The structures are designed to be versatile in their use. Each individual unit contains accordion-style Dutch doors on the front to allow for multiple configurations. For example, if the unit will be used as a game booth, perhaps the bottom set of accordion doors remains closed to separate the guests from the game mechanics and operator. Or, if being used as a craft booth, the full height of doors can be in the open position to allow for free flow of guests in and out.

Between each unit, the walls themselves also act as a single accordion door that can be positioned as completely closed, half open, or fully open. This can allow for two (or more) booths to be occupied by a single activity. Additionally, the entire set of units could be connected as a singular walkthrough experience with different segments defined by the half walls between them.

A number of uses were imagined for these booths, including:

  • Midway game booths
  • North Pole Village
  • Lunch shelters for large groups or field trips
  • Private picnic cabanas
  • VIP event space
